7 Facts about Ardent

Well thanks to lovely Derya,
I have been tagged, which means I must divulge 7 bits of personal trivia:))

1. I have an enormous extended family – Brothers, nephews, nieces, Aunts, Uncles and so many Cousins, some of whom I now only manage to catch up with at weddings and funerals.

2. Every dog I owned as a child was a stray.

3. I got married when I was 20 years old, too young by today’s standard but I am very happily married.

4. My husband has a mistress. Well that’s what he calls his Harley!

5. With the destruction of the Rain Forests a lot of Orchid species will become extinct. That is why I collect rare species, in hope of saving some orchid species from extinction. That is my bit for the environment.

6. I hate housework, even though my children complain that I am obsessed with cleanliness.

7. My first political observation and learning experience was with my father when I was about 10 years old. I remember the conversation because my father nearly choked on his food. It was at the Dinner table and we were watching the news at the same time. The News program showed a report about Israel and the Palestinians. During the commercial break I casually informed every one of my school teacher’s thoughts, stating,
‘My teacher said that the Palestinians gave that land to the Jews because the land was all sand and worthless. And now that the Jews have built homes and irrigated the land, the greedy Palestinians want their land back.’
My astounded father asked, ‘Did your teacher say that?’ and I said, ‘Yes!’
‘Well’, my father exclaimed, ‘Well, you let your teacher think that!’
It was at that point I understood that every subject had opposing opinions and some opinions were downright lies.

And I have to tag 6 other people right, here we go:

Barbara - Turkish Muse
Jake – Jakedolson
Metin – Talkturkey
Murat – Amerikan Turk
Oz Kanka
Sean – Omnium

Thanks 4 the tag Ardent.

But I must regretfully decline, even though I hate to be a party pooper.

There are definitely more than 7 things to know about me ... all on Facebook (by the way are you a member?), as well as on my blog under: ABOUT ME!

However, I did chuckle at #4. Hopefully he takes you for a ride sometimes along with his mistress.

Dear Ardent,
there was no doubt I should (like Metin) politely reject in case I were ever to be tagged.

But for you I'll make an exception, whereby you learnt already two "things" about me: For me dogmata don't exist; and sometimes I am inconsequent. :)

So I'm happily checking the messages on my blog and I find I've been tagged! Scared the shit out of me at first. Then went to your blog and discovered that it was all very innocent.

Still, no way am I going to divulge any facts about myself, except for the obvious - I don't like Galatasaray, Besiktas or Fenerbahce.

What is the big deal about saying seven things about yourselves, gentlemen? Give me a break!
Pret-ty lame, Millhouse.

Metin, I have visited your blogsite so many times and never thought to check out:ABOUT ME. I have read it now. Thank you. Now, what is Facebook???

Murat, I'm just a new blogger and I obliged. Can't you just join in on some trivial fun?

Cheers

Murat Altinbasak said...

Ardent, that was a jab at the others, not you!

Oz Kanka said...

I can't speak for the others but trivial fun is something I don't write about on my blog :)

Barbara said...

Well, I love trivial fun, so expect to see 7 silly, trivial things about me on www.turkishmuse.com later today. Thanks for the tag!

Oz Kanka, you don't have to reveal your blood group. We are not about to come and steal your organs.

Come on stop being a party pooper!

Oz Kanka said...

Ardent, perhaps you haven't seen just how serious "The round ball in Ankara" actually is. :)

I am just a guy with a not so serious attitude. And I have met all of the seven deadly sins. And lo and behold, I am still alive...

1. I love flirting and eventually falling into relationships with women younger than me in biological age but older than me in maturity.

2. I love 'karniyarik' the dish. It's my absolute favorite if done a certain way. I can eat that for the rest of my life.

3. I admit to being a San Diego Chargers (American Football) fan even though they have the same colors as FB (Fenerbahce to you 'soccer' fans), and they just can't seem to put a winning season together. There's always this year.

3b: I also love the NY Yankees, as well as the NY Mets (American Baseball). A no-no for any true New Yorker.

4. I once swore off flying forever as I experienced a near death experience on an airplane with heavy turbulence problems over Bermuda as I was flying from Puerto Rico to NYC.

5. My very first personal computer that I purchased was an IBM PS2. And I paid a little over $2,000 for 20 MB of memory!!!

5b: I switched to Mac and Apple about 5 years ago, and would never go back to Microsoft and Windows unless 'hell freezes over.' Although I do use all of the Microsoft Office programs on my Mac with OS X.

6. I worked at Gucci on 5th Avenue in NY while going to NYU and used my 65% discount to buy my then girl friend a purse. And still spent my entire week's worth of pay.

7. Last but not least, I once had a one night stand with two women at the same time, where I ended up having a relationship with 1 of them for the next 6 months or so. I am not sure what happened to the 'bi' one.

Metin, Thank you for participating.
Can you please clarify one of your points.

#7 - Where you reminiscing or fantasizing?

Cheers

Sean, you are suppose to leave the 7 facts on your own blog site, but a certain person has seen fit to change the rules:)

it was the first time in my life that as a result of a one night stand, a relationship ensued . . . and i had my pick . . .

:)

. . . and i guess i am a rebel in that i don't go by any rules. After all, I am a Sagittarius.

Murat Altinbasak said...

NYU? I've done about $1 million dollars worth of architectural woodwork at NYU, including the 15th floor corporate offices.
Ha- another fact. My father remodeled the Turkish Consulate in NY back in 1983 or 84. They paid with an envelope filled with cash- something like $20,000.
